Description

As a Senior Field Examiner/Reviewer at Citizens Bank, you will support the underwriting of lending facilities for new and existing commercial borrowers. Through on-site evaluation of borrower’s books, records, and operations, you will ensure compliance with bank lending policies and procedures and assess collateral adequacy and quality by detecting changes in trends and identifying risks. You will prepare a detailed report of significant findings for distribution to internal stakeholders and will play a critical role in supporting senior management by coordinating exam scopes, budgets and procedures and communicating complex issues. The ideal candidate will be an analytical problem solver who demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills along with the capacity to work independently but still collaborate with internal/external stakeholders. A seasoned professional with deep expertise in complex field exams, credit risk analysis, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage high-impact projects to safeguard the bank’s lending portfolio.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead large-scale, complex field exams, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory standards and providing in-depth analysis of overall financial condition of various companies/industries, identifying credit risks, trends, and deteriorating situations.
  • Guide and mentor team members in credit risk analysis and field examination best practices, through thorough review of Junior Examiner work product.
  • Leverage advanced quantitative and analytical tools to measure, monitor, and manage credit risk effectively.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports and analyses to senior management and key stakeholders, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance risk management frameworks and ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience as a Field Examiner, Auditor, or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of credit risk management principles, regulatory guidelines, and industry best practices.
  • Proven ability to lead complex projects, manage competing priorities, and deliver results under tight deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial statement analysis, collateral evaluation, and risk modeling.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly to senior leadership.
  • High level of analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, or CTP.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior examiners.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial lending products, collateral types, and market dynamics.
  • Knowledge of data mining and audit software a plus.

Hours and Work Schedule traveling locally and overnight up to 25%.

Pay Transparency

The salary range for this position is $90,500 -$136,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
