Celebrating Those Who Live Our Credo

At Citizens, our Credo guides all that we do: We perform our best every day so we can do more for our customers, colleagues, communities and shareholders. Celebrating individual or team accomplishments, ideas, gestures and milestones are part of our everyday culture.

We're excited to celebrate 10 years of our Citizens Credo Awards Program - our version of an employee recognition program. With over 1.5 million Credo Awards received by our colleagues since 2015, we make it easy to recognize and reward colleagues who live our values, drive innovation, volunteer in our communities, or are celebrating personal or professional milestones. 

The Credo program is a wonderful way to provide meaningful recognition to a colleague for going over and above. I've used my Credo points for some life changing things, like a tool that inspired me to get into woodworking. That hobby allowed me to make memorable items for my colleagues and their families.

How does our Credo Awards Program work? 

Colleagues can send appreciation through our dedicated website and mobile app in a variety of ways. Managers are alerted of Credo recognition, and often made visible on office digital signage, in department meetings and more.

  1. Credo Awards E-Card – Non-monetary recognition for living our values or to celebrate milestones like birthdays, marriages, promotions, anniversaries, retirement, or community celebrations!
  2. Credo Awards with Points – Monetary, points-based reward sent by people managers, and those with a VP title and above. Points never expire and can be redeemed for thousands of brand-name products and gift cards in our online store.

Additional recognition happens year-round, with select colleagues invited to our annual Credo Champion event, typically held at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts.

  • Town Hall Recognition - Colleagues are nominated by executive leadership and recognized at their local town hall. They each receive a Chairman’s pin, a special Credo Award and are named a Credo Champion.
  • Credo Champions - Business line leaders review top Credo Awards recipients and nominations submitted by colleagues to select their Credo Champions.
  • Chairman's Community Awards - 10 winners who log 13 or more traditional and/or skills-based volunteer hours in our Community Portal are eligible and chosen by a committee of colleagues. These honorees** can designate $2,500 to an eligible community organization of their choice.* 
  • Chairman's Innovation Awards - 10-12 winners are selected by the Citizens Innovation Board who choose from those nominated by an Executive Leadership Group member, or are recipients of the Driving Innovation Credo Awards. These honorees** receive $1,000 worth of CFG stock.
  • Chairman's Credo Awards - As the highest honor at Citizens, 10 winners are announced at the annual Credo Champion event. Hand-selected from all Credo Champions, these honorees** receive $2,500 worth of CFG stock. 

*Designated organizations are subject to review/approval to meet all eligibility requirements and successfully pass Citizens’ risk screening assessment.

**Chairman’s Community, Chairman’s Innovation, and Chairman’s Credo Award winners must meet certain eligibility requirements.
