As the Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Credit Analyst I, you will support a group of Portfolio Managers by preparing analyses of CRE borrowers, including spreading financial statements for both straightforward and moderately complex credits. You will be responsible for completing written summaries of industry issues, industry research and writeups, and preparing relationship data for existing commercial customers or prospects. Additionally, you will support activities associated with credit file maintenance, compliance, and annual review activities for a variety of credits. You will have the opportunity to independently perform analysis and modeling functions and prepare the CPS from beginning to end for straightforward loans.

Primary responsibilities include

  • Audits credit files to ensure that all necessary file documentation is present and up to date.
  • Prepares and submits internal reporting/compliance documentation and reporting for assigned portfolio.
  • Prepares and processes loan modifications, tracks and collects ongoing financial reporting and tests covenant compliance.
  • Assesses and confirms the accuracy of risk ratings and recommends changes as warranted to Portfolio Manager.
  • Completes risk rating updates in system as needed.
  • Is able to develop and recommend potential solutions and alternatives for modifications, including financial covenant structuring.
  • May engage directly with existing customers after conferring with RM or PM on a specific financial analysis or account management issue.
  • Accompanies RM/PM on client calls periodically. Able to field basic internal questions from Credit independently.
  • Identifies opportunities to cross sell bank products and services to existing customers.
  • Works diligently in support of assigned credits to present information in an organized manner.
  • Assists with managing the existing portfolio of straight forward to moderately complex credits/customers through collection, analysis, and verification of financial and property level information.
  • Independently completes the initial draft of a TOS, CPS, Terms & Conditions, Appendices, cash flow coverage, collateral analysis, spreads, risk rating and profitability models for assigned credits and prospects where the loan request is straightforward (see description above).
  • Prepares relationship data on commercial customers and accurately identifies total bank exposure.
  • Typically supports a particular group of senior PMs in support of the activities noted above for moderately to very complex credits.
  • Exhibits ability to interpret financial statements, formulate material questions and draw preliminary conclusions based on analysis and can thoughtfully summarize findings to PM or RM.
  • Displays ability to answer financial analysis or modeling questions for other Credit Analysts.
  • Researches and completes written analyses of market data related to existing and prospective Borrowers.

Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; prior experience in commercial credit analysis or financial services preferred.
  • Financial Analysis Expertise: Proven ability to interpret and analyze financial statements, assess risk ratings, and perform cash flow coverage and collateral analysis for straightforward to moderately complex credits.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in financial modeling, profitability assessments, and preparing comprehensive credit packages (CPS, TOS, Terms & Conditions, Appendices).
  • Industry Research & Writing: Strong research capabilities with experience producing written summaries of industry trends, borrower profiles, and market data.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Familiarity with credit file audits, covenant testing, and internal reporting requirements; detail-oriented in maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation.
  • Customer Engagement: Comfortable supporting relationship managers and portfolio managers, including occasional client interactions and identifying cross-sell opportunities.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Effective communicator with ability to summarize findings, recommend solutions, and support team members with financial analysis inquiries.
  • Initiative & Independence: Demonstrated ability to work independently on assigned credits, manage multiple tasks, and contribute to portfolio management activities.

  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Work Schedule: M-F
