Description

We are seeking a seasoned Litigation Attorney to join our Legal team, supporting the bank’s litigation portfolio. This role is pivotal in managing a wide array of litigation and regulatory matters, with a strong emphasis on mitigating legal risk and safeguarding the bank’s reputation and strategic interests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage litigation, arbitration, government investigations, and regulatory enforcement actions across various business lines, including commercial, consumer, retail, business banking, property services, and wealth management.
  • Direct and oversee outside counsel in developing litigation strategies, managing case budgets, and ensuring alignment with the bank’s business goals.
  • Provide proactive legal counsel and risk assessments to internal stakeholders, offering strategic guidance on dispute resolution and litigation exposure.
  • Respond to subpoenas, regulatory inquiries, and third-party information requests in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting the financial services industry and assess potential litigation implications.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior leadership and risk committees on significant litigation matters and trends.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in at least one state within the bank’s operational footprint.
  • Minimum of 7 years of litigation experience in a major law firm or in-house legal department, preferably with a focus on financial services and regulatory matters.
  • Strong understanding of legal standards and regulatory frameworks applicable to the banking industry.
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex matters in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative approach to cross-functional engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior in-house legal experience within a bank or financial institution.
  • Extensive experience in consumer banking litigation.
  • Familiarity with e-discovery platforms and litigation management tools.
  • Knowledge of risk management and compliance frameworks.

Pay Transparency

The salary range for this position is $200,000 - $220,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
