Description
The Senior Housing Relationship Manager is responsible for originating, structuring, and managing complex commercial real estate relationships with a focus on senior housing, healthcare real estate, and related operating platforms. This role combines deep sector expertise with broad commercial banking capabilities to deliver integrated financial solutions across lending, capital markets, and treasury services.
The banker will drive growth through proactive origination, disciplined credit underwriting, and strategic client advisory, partnering across the Bank to deliver a “One Bank” approach to institutional and middle market clients.
Primary Responsibilities
Business Development & Relationship Coverage
Originate and expand relationships with senior housing owners, operators, sponsors, and institutional investors
Develop and execute client coverage strategies across independent living, assisted living, memory care, and continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs)
Build referral networks across private equity sponsors, REITs, developers, and healthcare operators
Credit Structuring & Execution
Structure and execute bilateral and syndicated credit facilities, including construction, bridge, and permanent financing
Analyze cash flow durability, operator performance, occupancy trends, and reimbursement exposure specific to senior housing
Lead preparation and presentation of credit approvals to senior management, demonstrating strong risk judgment and sector expertise
Coordinate execution of complex transactions, including multi-property portfolios and programmatic joint ventures
Portfolio Management & Risk Oversight
Manage a portfolio of senior housing relationships, ensuring proactive monitoring of credit quality, market trends, and sponsor performance
Identify emerging risks (e.g., labor costs, occupancy volatility, regulatory pressures) and develop mitigation strategies
Partner closely with Portfolio Management and Credit teams to ensure strong underwriting discipline and ongoing covenant compliance
Client Advisory & Cross-Sell Delivery
Deliver the Bank’s full suite of capabilities, including Capital Markets, Treasury Management, Interest Rate Derivatives, and Investment Banking solutions
Provide strategic advice on capital structure, portfolio optimization, and capital raising alternatives
Collaborate across business lines to drive holistic client engagement and revenue growth
Market Leadership & Sector Expertise
Maintain deep knowledge of senior housing market trends, including supply/demand dynamics, demographic tailwinds, and capital flows
Represent the Bank at industry conferences, client events, and investor forums to enhance brand presence and originations pipeline
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience
- 10+ years of experience in Commercial Real Estate or Commercial Banking, with meaningful exposure to senior housing, healthcare real estate, or operating businesses
- Proven track record of originating, structuring, and executing commercial credit transactions
- Experience managing large, complex client portfolios ($500MM+ relationships preferred)
- Technical & Credit Skills
- Strong credit underwriting and risk assessment capabilities, including cash flow modeling and sensitivity analysis
- Deep understanding of commercial loan structures (secured lending, syndications, lines of credit, and capital markets execution)
- Ability to evaluate operator-driven business models alongside real estate fundamentals
- Commercial & Relationship Skills
- Demonstrated ability to build and deepen client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor
- Strong sales and origination discipline, with a focus on pipeline development and execution
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, particularly in senior credit forums
- Strategic & Leadership Capabilities
- Ability to think strategically about portfolio construction, risk-adjusted returns, and client growth opportunities
- Strong collaboration skills, working effectively across Credit, Capital Markets, Private Bank, and Product teams
- High level of professional judgment, accountability, and execution discipline
Education & Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field required
- Completion of a formal credit training program strongly preferred
- MBA or advanced degree is a plus

Hours per Week: 40
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
Pay Transparency
The salary range for this position is $240,000 - $300,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, relevant skills, and experience.
