Description
As the Product Manager, you will develop and drive the product strategy or product portfolio, supporting the business strategy of the organization. You will be responsible for profitability, quality, and competitiveness of the product (s) in that portfolio. The incumbent will be involved in new product / product enhancement and discretionary projects. They will also be expected to perform maintenance requests and work with smaller projects on occasion and independently develop a Product Roadmap to define the sequence of projects for a particular product discipline (e.g., Payables, Receivables, etc.) Will be expected to build the case for New Product Development – working independently to write problem opportunity statements (POS), identify and define business requirements (BRD), following the management business requirement document process (BRD). Roll Out / Product and Customer Readiness –Responsible for putting training plan in place – this would include Internal training (Train the trainer, Treasury Solutions Spotlights documentation, implementation changes, etc.); External training (Webinars, training documentation, video script/updates, etc.); and Client Services (customer communication template, scripting for a potential outbound calling effort, Client Services training).Ensures appropriate Marketing Plan is in place working closely with marketing team– defines internal and external communications, advertising, naming conventions, user interface, and customer experience and roll out strategies. Pursues Legal and Risk feedback / approval on the Client User Guide / etc. Reviews and Prepares External content / documents – Welcome letters, FAQs, installation / upgrade instructions, user guides, power point content, questionnaires, videos, system requirements, .com space, product demo, etc. Approves and Generates Internal content / documents – Product guide, pricing / profile descriptions, support FAQs, intranet docs. and content, sell sheets, etc. Administers / Reviews Communication Plan – Bulletins, banners, letters, emails, Citizens Today, newsletters, etc. Responsible for Implementation Plan – to include Scheduling big bang or phased approach, timing, additional resources, etc. Technical implementation to include Release notes, defects, product rollout timeline, product readiness; Set up processes with Business Services, NASU, and Operations; NASU – Procedures, training, setup and testing a customer setup; Pac Man – Changes identified, tested and moved to Production. DR forms. Rollout – Pilot, soft launch to full sales launch. Strategy Key responsibilities include involvement in the Product Solutions Strategy as it relates to Negotiating and Recommending Product Pricing Strategy and Project Segmentation (i.e., health care, real state, etc.). Independently perform Product Reviews, knowledge of and adhering to Product Positioning / Strategy. Coordinate Business Development, Vendor Replacement and New Product Development. The Product Manager will be expected to attend conferences, and keep up with industry news and understand where the industry is heading. Responsible for scanning the market in general. Will be expected to engage with outside consultants such as TSI, Ernst & Young, McKinsey, etc.
Primary responsibilities include
- Sales Support – Initial “grabbing” of new clients / new service to client before salesperson gets involved; involvement in early stages of sales; deal assessment / evaluation; develop pricing, review requirements; respond to RFPs, answer “custom” questions; interact with sales colleagues.
- Business Line Support – Support ongoing projects and act as SME for consulting on other projects; internal training; external training; maintenance requests that are not directly related to projects but affect service; assist with complex customer service issues; perform routine maintenance; look for ways to save money and increase revenue through process improvement; participate in Workouts; update existing price lists; involvement in billing errors affecting customers and with vendor billing.
- Risk / Legal – New Product Risk Assessment (NPRA) Review all new and revised product or service initiatives in order to assess the risks and controls and ensure that the residual risk of each new initiative is within the “risk appetite” of the company and is consistent with safe and sound banking practices, laws and regulations. Create / update customer legal agreements including Terms & Conditions, Service Order, etc. manage Statement of Work Process (SOW). Obtain Legal Review / Approval of SOW at the project level. Review bulletins and customer communications. Involvement in incident management, security and fraud situations. Adhere to information security requirements, and perform third party evaluations.
- Vendor Management – to include Review features and functionality, capability. Investigate contract issues / and review & recommend contract renewal. Ensure billing errors with vendors that do not affect customers are resolved.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Technology, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in product management, preferably within financial services, banking, or technology sectors.
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional product initiatives from concept to launch.
- Technical & Analytical Skills
- Strong understanding of product lifecycle management, including roadmap development, release planning, and post-launch support.
- Experience with business requirement documentation (BRD), problem opportunity statements (POS), and risk assessments (NPRA).
- Familiarity with technical implementation processes, including defect tracking, release notes, and customer setup procedures.
- Proficiency in analyzing market trends, competitive landscapes, and customer feedback to inform product strategy.
- Communication & Collaboration
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, actionable plans.
- Experience developing internal and external training materials, marketing plans, and customer communications.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Legal, Risk, Marketing, Sales, Client Services, and external consultants.
- Leadership & Strategic Thinking
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead initiatives across multiple departments.
- Skilled in negotiating and recommending product pricing strategies and segmentation approaches.
- Experience in vendor management, including contract review, feature evaluation, and billing oversight.
- Comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and external partners such as TSI, Ernst & Young, and McKinsey.
- Customer & Sales Orientation
- Strong customer focus with experience supporting sales efforts, responding to RFPs, and resolving complex service issues.
- Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement, cost savings, and revenue growth.
- Compliance & Risk Awareness
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and risk management practices in product development.
- Experience managing legal documentation, incident response, and information security protocols.
