As the senior leader of the Home Mortgage Quality Department, the primary function of this position is to ensure Mortgage maintains a strong loan manufacturing process. This team is vital to ensuring we originate loans in compliance with all applicable secondary market, private and government loan programs, and internal requirements. The Consumer QA QC Group Manager will oversee three distinct teams (about forty colleagues in total) that perform various quality functions such as: Pre-Funding Quality Assurance reviews, Post-Closing Quality Control reviews, and targeted Compliance Quality Control reviews. Primary responsibilities include

  • Ensuring a strong quality function that influences and supports sound origination practices that, in turn, give our business the license to grow.
  • Defining an ambitious vision for what QA/QC can look like in the future, while also getting partners to buy-in and support changes.
  • Determining how we can improve the business through policy changes, process improvements, innovative technologies, etc.
  • Maintaining a strong partnership with Operations to ensure we are “One Team”, working together, with the shared goal of best-in-class loan quality.
  • Managing teams through day-to-day execution, including handling escalations and conflict as needed.
  • Leading the team through change and ambiguity in an ever-changing industry.
  • Investing time in our colleagues to help them grow professionally in their careers.
  • Ensuring strong coordination with Risk/Compliance/Credit/Legal on a loan-by-loan level (as needed) and broader level to ensure our quality program adheres to all legal, regulatory, and credit requirements. 
  • Supporting audits/exams and risk issue management throughout the year.
  • Leading by example, always displaying a professional and positive attitude. 

Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials

  • 8-10 years experience in Mortgage Operations (underwriting and closing)
  • Knowledge of the consumer mortgage lending process and workflow
  • Knowledge of secondary, private investor and government mortgage loan programs
  • Strong leadership skills to guide teams, help colleagues grow and adapt to new ways of working, and collaborate amongst teams in a complex organization.
  • Self-motivated with an ability to think autonomously while maintaining high productivity and quality standards.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with solid analytical and critical thinking skills
  • PC skills including proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint applications
  • Experience with ACES, Empower an/or Encompass, a plus

Hours & Work Schedule

  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday (4 days in office, 1 day remote)
