Description
Citizens Bank is executing a multi‑year transformation of its retail branch network, requiring high‑quality insights, strong analytical judgment, and consistent decision support across performance management, experimentation, and strategic investment. The Business Insights and Analytics Lead, Branch Network Distribution will lead the team responsible for delivering those insights.
This role manages a small, high‑impact analytics team that includes Senior Business Insights Analysts focused on (1) network performance reporting and dashboards and (2) branch action analytics, experimentation, and impact measurement, as well as a junior business analyst. The team may grow as business needs require.The manager ensures the team delivers accurate, insight‑driven, executive‑ready work while continuously raising analytical standards, improving scalability, and strengthening partnerships with senior leaders across Distribution Transformation, Retail Banking, and the Consumer Bank.
This is a player‑coach role requiring strong technical judgment, people leadership, and the ability to shape analytical work into clear narratives that influence senior decision‑making.
Primary responsibilities include
- Analytical Strategy, Quality & Execution Leadership
- Set the analytical direction for branch network insights across performance reporting, experimentation, and action impact measurement.
- Ensure the team consistently produces accurate, insight‑driven deliverables that anticipate stakeholder needs and support high‑stakes decisions.
- Establish analytical frameworks, quality standards, and best practices that scale across business intelligence and analytics work.
- Data Knowledge, Wrangling & Semantic Strategy
- Maintain a strong understanding of data lineage, enterprise metrics, and standards across branch, customer, marketing, and financial domains.
- Provide direction and coaching to the team on data preparation approaches, assumptions, and methodological rigor.
- Shape cross‑domain data strategy, improve semantic layers, and partner with data engineering teams to develop scalable, durable data models.
- Business Intelligence Tooling & Capability Development
- Define the BI and analytics tooling strategy for the team, aligned to enterprise standards and evolving business needs.
- Ensure team proficiency across required BI, visualization, and analytical tools.
- Drive adoption of advanced tool features and continuously uplift analytical capability across the organization.
- Business Partnering & Strategic Influence
- Build strong, productive partnerships with senior leaders across Distribution Transformation, Retail Banking, Marketing, Finance, and the Consumer Bank.
- Act as a strategic advisor, shaping business direction through insight, perspective, and sound analytical judgment.
- Ensure clear expectations, priority alignment, and effective intake across competing analytical demands.
- People & Project Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of analysts, including performance management, feedback, and talent identification.
- Strengthen team capability across reporting design, experimentation, causal analysis, and executive communication.
- Lead complex, cross‑functional analytical initiatives end‑to‑end, improving coordination and delivery consistency.
- Executive Communication & Narrative Development
- Communicate concise, strategic insights tailored to leadership needs and decision contexts.
- Craft compelling narratives that connect analysis to implications, trade‑offs, and recommended actions.
- Review and elevate team outputs to ensure executive‑ready quality and clarity.
- Ways of Working, Ownership & Standards
- Set and model standards for quality, judgment, accountability, and ownership across the team.
- Improve operating rhythms, intake processes, and delivery workflows to increase efficiency and impact.
- Support adoption of BI standards and consistent ways of working across Distribution analytics.
- Continuous Learning & GenAI Adoption
- Model continuous learning and curiosity, staying current on analytical methods, tools, and best practices.
- Lead thoughtful adoption of GenAI and emerging techniques to accelerate insight generation and modernize workflows.
- Ensure GenAI is used effectively, responsibly, and consistently across the team.
Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials
- 8+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, strategy, or a related field; financial services or retail banking experience preferred.
- Prior experience leading or managing analytical teams, including coaching, performance management, and capability development.
- Strong technical foundation in analytics, data modeling, and BI concepts, with the ability to review and guide complex work.
- Experience partnering with senior leaders and influencing decisions through insight‑driven narratives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Analytics, or a related field; advanced degree a plus.
Hours & Work Schedule
- Hours per Week: 40
- Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
- Hybrid: 4 days per week on-site, 1 day remote
PayTransparency
The salary range for this position is $150,000- $200,000, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
