Middle Market Senior Relationship Manager

While in this role, you will be the primary contact person for Credit based clients, while soliciting and maintaining relationships with middle market businesses, and thus overseeing the delivery and maintenance of a wide array of diverse bank products and services. Additionally, you will also act as a trusted advisor to a wide range of clients, representing a diverse range of industries including professional services, general commercial, and global companies. Primary responsibilities include

  • Work with Senior management, Relationship managers, investment banking partners and other credit professionals to originate, monitor and grow middle market banking relationships.
  • Drive credit underwriting, modeling, portfolio monitoring, and as well as assisting with office risk management duties.
  • Work in partnership with relationship managers to coordinate pricing, revenue growth, cross sell and relationship profitability.
  • Manage and promote the maintenance of a portfolio that adheres to all applicable credit policies and compliance requirements.
  • Interact with clients directly to understand business needs and represent Citizens in developing and maintaining client relationships.

Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials

  • Required Qualifications
    • 8+ years of experience in Commercial banking - Middle Market or similar range with a history of competency and success in soliciting, selling, developing, servicing, and structuring a wide range of secured and unsecured commercial financings, including complex transactions
    • Demonstrated experience handling difficult and sensitive client relationships and capable of handling tough negotiations, both to win the deal and to legally document the transaction.

    • Formal commercial credit training 

  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Ability to function as an independent thinker and self-starter with strong sales skills and excellent credit skills.
    • Highly skilled in financial modeling and able to appropriately structure credit in a modeling environment

    • Must be able to independently assess business risk, taking into consideration capital structures and industry nuances as applicable.    

    • Capable of actively planning, organizing and managing a deal team, consisting of applicable product partners, to determine value-added approaches to clients and potential clients. 

    • Will require highly developed communication skills and the ability to influence others by persuasively presenting thoughts and ideas to gain commitment and agreement for proposed ideas and solutions.
