Staff Auditor - Commercial Lending and Credit

Primary responsibilities include

Along with other colleagues, the Staff Auditor will perform risk-based audits of Corporate Banking, Commercial Real Estate, Business Banking, Community Development, and supporting operational and credit functions, including Commercial Loan Operations and Allowance for Credit Losses. The Staff Auditor will: 

  • Participate in the planning, fieldwork, and wrap-up of audits.
  • Review and document business processes to ensure that controls are in place, effective, sustainable, and in compliance with bank standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform testing to confirm control effectiveness, documenting work in Internal Audit’s system of record and verbally communicating results to Internal Audit and bank management. 
  • Validate that management’s corrective action to resolve Internal Audit-raised issues is effective.
  • Develop and use analytical skills to evaluate data, looking for patterns, trends, and exceptions, and build effective methods of testing controls.
  • Participate in other audit activities with team members, including evaluating the control environment of a business unit through innovate methods. 

Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials

  • 1-5 years of work experience, preferably in a lending or related support function in a financial institution
  • Ability to work in a team environment, and independently when required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to quickly understand, document and explain bank processes based on observations/interviews with bank colleagues.
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and track progress of assigned work in support of large projects
  • Experience using and analyzing data
  • Experience with MS Office suite of applications including Word and Excel
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Understanding of bank regulations and industry practices is a plus
  • Travel 5 – 10%

Hours & Work Schedule

Hours per Week: 40 (4-days in-office)

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
