Senior Manager – Consumer Banking Finance & Performance Management
The Senior Manager of Consumer Banking Financeis a strategic partner to senior line-of-business leaders, responsible for driving financial transparency, disciplined expense management, and performance optimization across the retail branch network and key support lines of business. This role leads budgeting, business case development, and ongoing financial analytics while providing actionable insights on opportunities and risks. Additionally, the role oversees incentive goal setting and performance scorecards for Metro New York and the broader branch distribution network. The role will play a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity of the business through sound fundamental practices. You will be responsible for Enterprise Data & Analytics covering all areas of financial and management reporting, planning and analysis. In this role, you’ll experience new things, create new opportunities, think beyond your role and make an impact. You will drive strategic business initiatives and review financial forecasts, variance reports, and industry drivers as part of the planning process. You will serve as a strategic business partner for leaders, leading strategic initiatives and supporting cross functional teams with high visibility and impact. You will be fully knowledgeable on the day-to-day within Enterprise Data & Analytics and can provide assistance on complex business issues.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Partnership
Serve as a trusted advisor to senior retail and other key support leaders, providing financial insights to inform decision-making and strategy execution
Translate business strategies into financial plans, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives
Challenge assumptions and identify opportunities to improve financial performance and resource allocation
Expense Management & Budget Oversight
- Facilitate the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes, including analysis of key assumptions and related financial implications.
- Supports the business by providing financial reporting and analysis to influence business management and advises on accounting issues and the financial implications of business trends.
- Ensures business leadership is focusing on the most important financial outcomes and that plans are aligned with business unit and franchise strategies.
- Ensures the sound financial management and well controlled processes, including Income Statement, Balance Sheet reporting, and reconciliations as appropriate.
- Constantly scan and learn and apply new knowledge to transform core processes. Operate in an agile, flexible and adaptable manner.
Monitor and analyze expense trends, identifying variances, risks, and cost-saving opportunities
Develop actionable recommendations to optimize expense efficiency while supporting growth initiatives
Business Case Development
Lead development and validation of business cases, including ROI, NPV, payback, and break-even analysis
Partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate investments
Ensure consistent financial rigor and governance across all investment proposals
Opportunities & Risk Management
Proactively identify, quantify, and track financial opportunities and risks across the retail and other key support business
Maintain ongoing visibility into initiative performance versus plan
Provide executive-level reporting and recommendations to mitigate risks and accelerate value capture
Unit Cost Analytics & Productivity
Develop and manage unit cost metrics (e.g., cost per transaction, cost per account, cost per branch)
Analyze productivity drivers and benchmark performance across regions and channels
Partner with operations teams to improve efficiency and scalability through gearing ratios
Incentive Planning & Performance Management
Lead retail incentive goal-setting processes, ensuring alignment with financial targets and strategic priorities
Evaluate performance outcomes and recommend enhancements to drive desired behaviors
Scorecards & Performance Reporting
Own and maintain Metro New York and branch distribution scorecards
Deliver insights on performance trends, target attainment, and key drivers of success
Provide clear, concise executive reporting with a focus on actionable insights
Qualifications
Experience
8–12+ years of experience in finance, preferably within retail banking or financial services
Proven experience supporting senior executives in a business-facing finance role
Strong background in business case development and financial modeling
Skills & Competencies
Deep expertise in financial analysis, forecasting, and performance management
Strong understanding of retail banking economics, branch networks, and customer channels
Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; experience with Claude, ChatGPT and other AI/BI tools to automate routines and focus on analytics
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
Leadership
Demonstrated ability to work independently
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Success Measures
Accuracy and effectiveness of financial forecasts and expense management

Pay Transparency
The salary range for this position is $128,000 - $160,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
