2027 Investment Banking Summer Analyst Program

Company OverviewCitizens Financial Group, Inc. is one of the nation’s oldest and largest financial institutions, with $226.4 billion in assets as of December 31, 2025. Headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island, Citizens provides a broad range of retail, private banking, wealth management, and commercial banking products and services to individuals, small businesses, middle-market companies, large corporations, and institutional clients. Capital Markets & Advisory (“CM&A) is Citizens’ full-service investment banking platform, offering a comprehensive product suite supported by deep sector expertise and a cohesive coverage model.

Program OverviewCitizens’ Capital Markets & Advisory Summer Analyst Program offers motivated undergraduate students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a leading U.S. middle-market franchise, combining the resources of a large financial institution with a relationship-driven, team-oriented culture. CM&A is deeply integrated across Industry Coverage, Leveraged Capital Markets, and Mergers & Acquisitions, providing interns with broad exposure to live transactions, formal training, structured mentorship, and senior leadership. Throughout the 10-week internship, Summer Analysts are assigned to active and prospective engagement teams across multiple industries, quickly gaining meaningful responsibility and developing core investment banking skills. CM&A’s Summer Analyst program is the primary pipeline for full-time Analyst roles within the investment bank.

Opportunities Within CM&A, bankers are organized into three core groups: Industry Coverage, Leveraged Capital Markets, and Mergers & Acquisitions.

  • Industry Coverage: Industry Coverage (Corporate Finance) bankers originate and execute debt, M&A, and equity transactions across specific industry sectors through capital raising and strategic advisory solutions and work closely with the M&A and Leveraged Capital Markets teams to execute business.

  • Leveraged Capital Markets (“LCM”): Internally referred to as Debt Capital Markets, the Leveraged Capital Markets team focuses on the origination, structuring, and execution of finance transactions for corporate and financial sponsor clients, with a concentration on middle-market credits.

  • Mergers & Acquisitions (“M&A”): M&A bankers provide sell-side and buy-side advisory services for middle market corporate and sponsor clients.

Summer Analysts are aligned with specific groups and potentially organized further by sector coverage. Availability of each group and sector varies by office location (see below).
