As a Small Business Relationship Manager in the Virtual Channel, you will manage and grow a portfolio of small business clients by delivering proactive, consultative banking solutions primarily through digital and virtual engagement. This role operates within a disciplined sales culture and plays a critical role in shaping the evolution of a new, technology-enabled relationship management channel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 325–350 small business clients with annual revenues between $500K and $5MM, including credit relationships up to $1MM.
  • Build deep client relationships through consistent, proactive outreach and structured call preparation.
  • Conduct discovery, presentation, and follow-up sales calls to identify needs and recommend appropriate lending, deposit, cash management, and other financial solutions.
  • Leverage digital tools and platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Vertical IQ, Teams, VantageLink) to research clients, document activity, and deliver virtual client engagement.
  • Lead and coordinate all prospective and active opportunities, serving as the primary client contact and quarterbacking deals across internal partners.
  • Collaborate with specialists across lending, cash management, merchant services, payroll, and wealth management to deliver comprehensive solutions.
  • Generate referrals and new business through relationship expansion and needs-based conversations.
  • Ensure a high-quality client experience by partnering with Relationship Support Specialists, Contact Center teams, and other service partners.
  • Complete required administrative, reporting, and compliance activities accurately and on time.
  • Provide feedback and insights to help improve processes, tools, and client experience within this evolving virtual channel.
  • Work onsite at the assigned Citizens office location; this is not a remote role.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as a Business Banking Relationship Manager or in a related business lending or B2B sales role.
  • Strong understanding of business banking solutions, including credit, deposits, and cash management, with the ability to assess client needs and recommend appropriate products.
  • Demonstrated sales success in a goal-oriented, fast-paced environment with measured routines and targets.
  • Comfortable using technology and digital tools to manage client relationships and collaborate with partners.
  • Strong credit acumen and ability to work effectively with underwriting partners.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain client relationships through excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and collaborative, with the ability to thrive in a team-based sales culture.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Hours and Work Schedule: 

  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Days: Monday - Friday on site.
