Job Title: Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will collaborate with and mentor a talented team of engineers while driving a wide range of technology initiatives. Leveraging your technical expertise and passion for innovation, you will help build modern, high‑impact solutions that strengthen Citizens’ competitive position. You will contribute to multiple applications across our consumer banking ecosystem and play a key role in shaping future technology direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, modify, develop, and deliver technology solutions that align with strategic business objectives.

  • Build modern, scalable, and well-architected components, tools, and applications.
  • Operate within an Agile environment, following best practices and collaborating closely with your team.
  • Integrate quality attributes—such as scalability, maintainability, and manageability—into distributed, service-based architectures.
  • Apply insights from previous experience to enhance design decisions and support the goals of customer-facing products.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software development experience with a strong track record of launching commercial products

  • 3+ years of experience gathering requirements, creating software designs, and producing efficient implementations
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Solid hands-on expertise with Angular, Java, JavaScript, API development, Spring, Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate, microservices, micro frontends, and event-driven architectures

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of banking industry operations, particularly custodial and consumer banking

  • Cloud experience (AWS preferred)
  • Bash and Linux proficiency
  • Experience with full-stack development
  • Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect)
  • Strong understanding of data structures (arrays, dictionaries, linked lists, custom objects, etc.)
  • Docker fundamentals and Kubernetes deployment understanding
  • CI/CD pipeline experience (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, Jenkins)
  • Strong grasp of REST, caching, and browser security (CSP, OAuth flows)

Education and Certifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.

Pay Transparency 

The salary range for this position is $ 107,360 - $ 161,000 per yearplus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
