Citizens Capital Markets & Advisory – Markets group is seeking an Investment Banking Associate to join our Industrial Advisory team in our Cleveland office. The Associate will work closely with the team’s junior and senior professionals preparing, analyzing, and executing banking related transactions, primarily within the U.S. middle market.

Our Associates are exposed to multiple industries within our core areas of focus. In addition to key execution responsibilities, Associates manage consistent deal flow and are a main point of contact for our clients. All Associates have significant exposure to senior bankers and are involved in all stages of a transaction; they are an integral part of delivery to our clients and prospects.  

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Participate in all phases of the transaction cycle from pitch development through deal execution and close
  • Lead and prepare pitch materials, update decks, business‑origination presentations, and other client‑facing materials
  • Develop and review detailed transaction marketing materials, including confidential information memoranda, management presentations, and other key transaction documents
  • Perform extensive financial modeling and valuation analyses, and manage or assist with the preparation of complex financial models and business valuations
  • Conduct comprehensive company and industry due diligence, research, and analysis, and develop thought pieces for client discussions
  • Own and manage diligence workstreams, including virtual data room oversight and responding to diligence inquiries
  • Liaise directly with client C‑suite and senior management to prepare materials, clarify diligence items, and support transaction processes
  • Support junior and senior deal team members in developing new business ideas, pitch strategies, and transaction structuring scenarios across equity, debt, and M&A
  • Lead or participate in meetings with current and prospective clients
  • Analyze model outputs and client information to develop insights and present conclusions for internal and external discussions
  • Assist in outreach and business‑development efforts for sell‑side M&A and capital markets transactions
  • Mentor and coach analysts, providing guidance on analyses, materials, and process management

Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials

  • 3+ years of work experience in investment banking, transaction advisory, or similar role
  • Experience in Industrial sector is strongly preferred. With Industrial equipment sector experience is a plus 
  • Professional / concise oral and written communication
  • Strong technical skills (knowledge of accounting, modeling, Excel, etc.)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Self-starter / intellectual curiosity / resourceful 
  • Strong work ethic / team player / high degree of humility, maturity, and integrity
  • Ability to work efficiently and to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Please note that U.S. Immigration sponsorship or work visa is not available for this position and candidates must have permanent authorization to work in the U.S.

Hours & Work Schedule

  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Days per Week: Monday to Friday
