Citizens is seeking a driven and strategic communications leader to join our Private Banking & Wealth Communications team. The successful candidate will develop and execute strategic, integrated communications plans and messaging strategies for Citizens’ Wealth Management. This role is ideal for a highly strategic and creative individual with exceptional critical thinking, stakeholder management skills, and a solid understanding of the wealth space.

This professional will play a pivotal role in advancing the bank’s Private Bank and Wealth narrative to position Citizens as the premier wealth provider for clients at all stages of their financial journeys – from mass affluent to ultra high-net worth.  Reporting to the Head of Private Banking & Wealth Communications, this role will be instrumental in driving the Wealth mission through impactful storytelling and engagement with diverse audiences, externally and internally.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Communications & Campaigns
    • Design and execute integrated communications strategies aligned with business goals.
    • Develop high-impact content: press releases, executive presentations, thought leadership, and internal messaging.
  • Media & External Relations
    • Lead media relations for Wealth Management across key markets, including Boston, NY, San Francisco, and Palm Beach.
    • Secure visibility in top-tier national, regional, and trade media advancing key messages; collaborate with social media teams to amplify reach.
  • Internal & Executive Communications
    • Drive internal communications initiatives that align with Citizens’ Private Bank and Wealth missions and values.
    • Establish and executive strategies to drive colleague alignment around business objectives and culture. 
    • Develop and maintain highly collaborative relationships at senior leadership levels and cross-functionally, ensuring effective communication and strategy alignment.
  • Performance & Insights
    • Monitor, analyze, and report on communications effectiveness using data-driven insights.
    • Continuously refine strategies to improve engagement and impact.

Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials

  • Expertise in developing and executing integrated communications strategies across internal and external channels in an in-house or PR agency setting.
  • Strong ability to craft compelling narratives and translate complex financial topics into clear, engaging content.
  • Proficiency in media relations, including pitching, securing coverage, and managing interviews and events.
  • Highly strategic and proactive mindset with strong critical thinking skills.
  • Skilled in executive communications, including speechwriting, messaging, and presentation development.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with strong project management and organizational skills required, including the ability to strategically prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Exceptional writing and editing abilities, eye for detail, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field required.

Hours & Work Schedule

  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday (Hybrid)

Pay Transparency

The salary range for this position is $136,500-$150,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
