Description
Citizens is looking for a seasoned communications professional to develop and execute strategic integrated programming for its Consumer Banking division. This individual will directly support key aspects of Citizens’ Consumer Banking and Lending business while also leading communications programs that advance Citizens’ overall corporate brand and reputation. Our Consumer Banking leaders will rely on this individual to be a trusted advisor who can deliver on internal and external communications objectives supporting their strategic priorities. This individual will be responsible for driving communications strategy and content, including but not limited to leadership messaging, organizational announcements and creative programming ideas that advance the company narrative, engage and inform employees, and drive earned media coverage.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Develop and execute innovative and engaging communication strategies supporting key Consumer Banking business lines and operations within the Consumer Banking business.
- Identify, craft and deliver clear and concise communications, including executive messages, business updates, business or human-interest stories, organization announcements, and large employee events such as Town Halls.
- Develop, execute and measure high-impact executive and internal communications programs that help ensure colleagues remain informed and engaged on the business strategy, priorities and culture; and promote both proactive and reactive external communications initiatives highlighting the business.
- Support efforts to deliver and amplify key messages across a variety of owned internal and external channels, such as the intranet newsfeeds, email messages, newsletters, LinkedIn, etc.
- Develop internal communications materials and plans for annual and reoccurring internal programs, such as newsletters, leader presentations and all colleague meetings.
- Collaborate closely with key internal stakeholders and partners on issues impacting our business and to help advance business objectives.
- Draft talking points, briefing documents, bylines and other written materials, as needed
- Support both proactive and reactive external communications efforts, including preparing news releases, media statements, thought leadership content, and other relevant materials.
- Identify opportunities to modernize communications, make process improvements and enhance efficiencies and identify and track key performance metrics to report on results
- Recognize and act on marketplace trends and other external opportunities to showcase the bank’s capabilities and drive awareness of its offerings and activities.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
- 7+ years of integrated communications experience managing internal or external communications in a large, matrix organization or within an agency. Financial services or banking experience is highly desirable.
- Highly strategic and proactive mindset with strong critical thinking skills.
- Ability to craft and deliver cohesive business-wide messaging and distill for external and internal audiences.
- Superior editorial, presentation, and spokesperson skills.
- Ability to quickly develop the expertise and internal relationships required to operate effectively within a complex, high-tempo organization.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and/or outside agency relationships.
- Deep familiarity with monitoring and measurement tools.
- Experience contributing to social media content strategies.
Education and/or Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or advanced degree in public relations, communications, or journalism preferred.
Schedule:
- M-F 8-5; Hybrid in Westwood, MA, Boston, MA, Johnston, RI office, 3 days and 2 days remote.
