The Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for the implementation of Health and Safety (H&S) programs for Citizens to advance the bank safety culture and promotion of colleague well-being. The primary objective is ensuring a safe and healthy work environment in branches and offices for Citizens colleagues, customers and vendors.
Primary responsibilities involve:
- Supporting the planning and timely execution of H&S work orders involving indoor air quality, asbestos, mold, flood response, ergonomics, and other industrial hygiene needs
- Being on-call to provide safety-related guidance to facilities colleagues who respond to emergencies in branches and offices
- Conducting visits of branches and offices to investigate H&S issues in branches and offices
- Analyzing safety-related data (workers compensation, general liability, and fleet vehicle losses) by using MS Excel complex formulas (e.g., vlookup, countif, text functions), advanced filters, and interactive pivot tables and charts
- Supporting the investigation of accidents and fleet vehicle losses to identify trends in accident root causes and propose preventive strategies
Supplementary responsibilities include:
- Supporting the development and annual update of Citizens H&S procedures
- Contributing to continuous improvement of H&S programs
- Developing and delivering H&S training content in-person or on-line
- Assisting in the planning and implementation of H&S events to advance a culture that fosters colleague well-being
- Encouraging colleagues to embrace health and safety topics
This role requires regular travel to branches and offices throughout the bank’s footprint. The chosen candidate will be required to work on the field, at a regional office or performing property visits at least four days a week, unless traveling.
Qualifications
Experience and Skills:
- Internship experience or more than 1-year experience (preferred) in Health, Safety and Environment
- Intermediate or Advanced level (preferred) of MS Excel
- Capacity to handle competing priorities
- Ability to travel as required
- Ability to work under pressure with efficiency and accuracy
- Competence in planning and organization skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills when interacting with branch and office colleagues, facilities personnel, and stakeholders
- Strong MS Office skills including MS Word and MS Power Point
Educational, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Preferred: OSHA Certification -10 hr
- Preferred: Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Hours & Work Schedule
Hours per Week: 40
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30AM – 5:00PM
Please Note:Safety-related emergencies at Citizens properties may occur during regular banking hours, as well as after hours and weekends.
