Citizens is looking for an experienced strategy professional to join its Corporate Strategy & Development team. This team sets the strategic agenda and direction for the company and acts as a trusted advisor to Citizens’ senior leadership (CEO, CFO, heads of businesses, and other members of the Executive Committee and Executive Leadership Group). The team addresses high impact strategic issues across Citizens’ portfolio of businesses, works with business leaders to develop and execute against strategic roadmaps, identifies and executes against Corporate Development / M&A opportunities for Citizens, enables and coordinates innovation efforts across the enterprise, oversees our agile center of excellence in support of scaling and maturing our agile delivery model, and manages the development and oversight of enterprise‐wide revenue and efficiency efforts through our continuous improvement program, Tapping our Potential (TOP).
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Strategy, this high‐profile role will give you the opportunity to help drive a bold vision set by our Executive Committee and support the execution of Citizens’ strategies. This role is ideal for someone who is excited by solving complex problems facing our customers and businesses, brings rigor and objectivity to strategic decision making, values being a collaborative partner, and is motivated by delivering tangible results. Success in this role will be grounded in the ability to influence at the senior executive level, distill complex problems into digestible formats, develop insights from internal and third-party data, leverage critical thinking to develop actionable plans, and lead, grow and motivate a diverse team. This role provides a strong platform for growth within Corporate Strategy or other roles within Citizens in our Finance or Strategy community, P&L opportunities in the lines of business, or product owner/manager roles across our agile delivery teams.

Primary Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Manage the strategic planning process in partnership with business units, Finance, Risk, Legal, HR and other key stakeholders to formalize and document our vision and strategies, objectives and key results to measure success and roadmap to achieve them.
- Lead the development and strategic allocation of technology portfolio funding across our agile towns in concert with the annual strategic planning / budgeting process; work closely with business partners to assess our funding mix and allocation in the context of enterprise and divisional strategic priorities.
- Drive thought leadership for corporate and business strategies by working alongside business leaders by developing problem statements, analyzing root causes, developing and communicating recommendations, and getting buy‐in for change.
- Lead and manage high‐priority programs/initiatives critical to the success of the enterprise including Citizens continuous improvement program, Tapping our Potential (TOP) and Quarterly Business Review process for our new agile operating model.
- Monitor and analyze relevant events and trends in the external environment including economic drivers, customer behavior trends, competitive threats, Fintech developments and other industry related strategy topics; translate external insights into actionable recommendations including opportunistic M&A, growth or expansion plans, business, product or propositional improvements, partnerships, new business models or fit for purpose technologies.
- Perform targeted, structured strategic analysis on the portfolio of businesses across the bank. Assess markets, competitive position, new product/distribution channel opportunities and value proposition considerations.
- Provide support for various CEO and CFO ad‐hoc requests.
- Help develop members of the strategy community, both directly and indirectly managed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Financial Services/Banking, with a focus on strategy development and execution.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful strategies that drive growth and profitability.
- Well versed in current events and issues facing banks and financial services companies including competitive environment, regulatory agenda and customer behavior trends.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a focus on driving results.
- ‘Player/coach’ – able to direct others while also executing as a team player.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Prior management consultancy at top tier consulting firm a plus.
Education/Certification:
- Bachelors Degree required, Master’s degree preferred
Pay Transparency
The salary range for this position is $175,000- $200,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
