Sr Solution Engineer- Finance Data

Description

The Finance Data Solutions team is looking for a Solution Engineer who will play a crucial role in understanding customer needs and interpreting them into solutions that are practical, scalable, and well-aligned with the overall business and technology strategies.  One of the key responsibilities of a Solutions Engineer will be to deeply understand Finance customer needs which will involve gathering requirements, gaining a comprehensive understanding of their pain points and objectives and solutioning on those needs.  This will require close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of solutions and identifying data elements, data mapping against business requirements utilizing tools such as SQL, DBeaver, Alteryx and SAS.   The key deliverables of this team are datasets in support of Risk Weighted Assets, Economic Capital, Tax Apportionment, Corporate Insurance, regulatory, management and SEC reporting. 

  • Participate in various requirements sessions with internal and external stakeholders and convert business requirements into functional/systems solutions
  • Investigates problems and develop recommendations for resolution
  • Monitors testing process to ensure that business results are adequately tested with minimal risk
  • Evaluate upstream changes and identify dependencies and impact to the established process
  • Provide references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation
  • Establish and maintain good liaison relationships with business partners 
  • Communicate with upstream data providers and downstream data consumers
  • Support all ad-hoc data investigative analysis
  • Manage project tasks assigned within scope, quality and timeframe 
  • Ability to manage several tasks at once and work effectively as an individual and as part of a team.
  • Conducting source system/data analysis and data profiling. Identifying trends in data, creating business solutions using data and data visualizations / story telling.
  • Data mapping from source to target and define transformation rules that meet the models created by Data Architects. Collaborating with cross functional team members as necessary and coming up with optimal solutions that meet data demands.
  • Following change management team stipulations on path to production requirements and strictly adhering to the compliance and regulatory needs.

Qualifications

Experience and Skills: 

  • Minimum 5-10 years of previous experience as a Data Engineer/Business Analyst
  • Excellent skills in SQL development
  • Excellent analytical skills to recognize data patterns, quantify potential issues and identify solutions
  • Data mapping, data profiling and performing statistical analysis of data
  • Using data mining to extract information from data sets and identify correlations and patterns 
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office applications to include JIRA, Microsoft Access, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Word
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong teamwork and analytical problem-solving ability.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Monitoring data quality and removing corrupt data
  • Bachelors degree in computer science or data related field.
