We are currently seeking a Director of Software Engineering  to lead the Compliance technology team and manage the portfolio of applications / data platforms for Compliance, AML and KYC and Risk Management. 

In this role, you will be required to have a strategic mindset, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for leveraging AI and ML to drive innovation and efficiency within the compliance function.

You will combine your technical expertise and strong leadership skills to spearhead a results-driven engineering and data team and serve as the key conduit with our business partners. The dynamic workload will require a diverse skillset, ranging from managing dev/ops teams, implementation and management of a portfolio of applications / data platforms related to Risk, Compliance and AML. 

Finally, as a strategic partner to the business executives, you will partner to build BL and technology multi-year roadmaps and be responsible for the delivery of the corresponding initiatives. 

Key Responsibilities will be to:

  • Define and execute the technology strategy for compliance, AML, KYC functions, NFRM, GRC, policy and regulatory management.
  • Ensure that all compliance, AML, and KYC systems and processes are compliant with applicable regulations and are meeting audit requirements for the bank.
  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines, data products to support compliance, AML, and KYC initiatives and ensure data quality, integrity, and security across the organization.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to identify and implement data-driven solutions to address compliance challenges.
  • Be a strategic partner to various senior executives in the organization, driving ideation, innovation and strategic alignment.
  • Resource management and staffing of the delivery and support teams, ensuring proper staffing (FTEs and contractors) to deliver on initiatives, and to ensure stable and functional applications.
  • Partner with internal technology delivery, infrastructure and enterprise architecture to drive solutions and innovations that align to our overall strategy and standards. 
  • Manage a neighborhood consisting of 8 pods and 60+ resources, and ability to perform as an experience/product owner to help drive business priorities and delivery.  
  • Manage third party vendor engagements, including scope of contracts, effective terms and conditions for delivery, pricing and execution.
  • Research and evaluate emerging AI and ML technologies to identify opportunities for improving compliance processes and outcomes in partnership with Data and Analytics Organization.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of AI/ML models for tasks such as transaction monitoring, customer risk assessment, and regulatory reporting.
  • Collaborate with compliance subject matter experts to ensure that AI/ML models are aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Experience and Skills:

  • 8 years of relevant experience in managing and delivering software capabilities in the compliance space and the banking or financial services industries
  • Strong technical background with knowledge in various domains, including software development, cloud technology, advanced analytics and data models, application management. 
  • Experience with AWS, Data Engineering capabilities such as Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, Python and SQL and microservices based architecture
  • Experience with data analysis/analytics tools/languages (Python, SQL, Tableau) preferred
  • Demonstrated Program Management experience with proven ability to delivery on concurrent large initiatives, including timeline, budget and stakeholder management
  • Strong analytical skills and an innovative approach to solving both practical and theoretical problems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively, build relationships, facilitate discussions, and diplomatically build consensus across diverse audiences/viewpoints.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience producing high-quality materials for management consumption.
  • Experience with Archer, GRC tools.

Knowledge, expertise and delivery of the following:

  • Compliance – AML comprising of Transaction Monitoring, KYC, enhanced Customer Due Diligence and risk rating, Sanctions (customer and payments), AML operations and governance, advanced analytics and data, reporting
  • Compliance - Office of Fair Banking including various lines of businesses, mortgage, loans, credit card, originations
  • Compliance – Regulation and policy management
  • Compliance – Operational loss analytics and reporting
  • Risk – Nonfinancial risk analytics and regulatory reporting
  • Risk – Model development, oversight and governance
  • Risk – GRC for the enterprise, over 60 solutions spread across 10 business lines
  • Risk – Market and Credit Risk data systems, analytics and reporting
  • Technology Services – Fraud Investigations
  • Various Business Lines KYC onboarding channels

Education:

  • Bachelor/Engineering degree in computer science or related technology degree or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree preferred.

Hours per Week: 40

Work Schedule:  Monday through Friday

Pay Transparency

The salary range for this position is $200,000 - $230,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
