Private Bank Credit Officer

Description

The Private Bank Senior Credit Officer is responsible for overseeing the credit approval process, assessing credit risk, and ensuring the bank’s lending practices align with regulatory standards and internal policies. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a high-quality credit portfolio across private banking clients, including high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and select corporate entities. You will work autonomously and will be recognized as a subject matter expert.

  • Evaluate and approve credit proposals, including credit products offered by the Private Bank in the Consumer and Commercial product lines to support Private Banking relationships (verticals , Consumer / Mortgage/HELOC/Custom unsecured HNW / SBL Commercial : C&I/ CRE / Multi Family/ Non for Profit / PE/VC/Manco, following the client approach connecting credit offerings across the Private Bank vertical engaging in opportunities and mitigating credit risk)
  • Conduct in-depth second line credit risk analysis review of clients’ financial profiles, collateral, and market conditions
  • Provide independent risk assessments and recommendations for larger or more complex transactions 
  • Monitor and manage the performance and quality of the credit portfolio, identifying early warning signs of deterioration
  • Establish and maintain credit risk frameworks, policies, and guidelines tailored to high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients
  • Develop, maintain, and update credit policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and risk appetite
  • Collaborate with relationship managers, portfolio managers underwriting teams and legal teams to structure appropriate credit solutions
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and training
  • Meet with clients, engage in site visits
  • Participate in internal and external audits and regulatory reviews and remediation plans
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in areas of lending expertise
  • Contribute to risk modeling, and portfolio analytics initiatives as necessary
  • Liaison to CFG partners for appropriate resourcing and identification of client opportunities to best serve the client, and Citizens organization
  • Prepare periodic reports for senior management on credit exposures, portfolio quality, and risk trends

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, or a related field 
  • 10+ years of experience in credit, exposure to Private Banking preferable
  • Strong understanding of private banking products and credit structures
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Excellent communication, analytical, decision-making, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to assess complex credit transactions and lead credit discussions

Hours & Work Schedule

  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Work Schedule: M-F

Pay Transparency 

The salary range for this position is $225,000- $250,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
