Sr. Product Manager - Payments

With focus on overall payments landscape and evolution, this person will manage various international payments initiatives at the enterprise level. There will be a strategic element as well as product management.  The ideal candidate will leverage a customer-oriented mindset to drive development of disruptive payment products that address pain points and tap into latent opportunities. The role will cover strategy for all international payment use cases (B2B, B2C, C2B, P2P) with Private Bank, Commercial, Consumer, and Small business applications.  The role will require a broad understanding of the constantly evolving fintech landscape.  This will include evaluation of the treasury solutions/ payments landscape, disruptors and industry consolidation and our approach to each. This person will need to work across the organization in close partnership with cash management product teams, consumer product teams, technology and strategy functions; externally with FinTechs and platform / capability vendors. 

Because the role will consist of managing international payment solutions, experience in international payments and/or foreign exchange is required.  Experience managing commercial online platforms is strongly preferred.  The willingness and ability to wear multiple hats and adapt to evolving business needs is key for this role.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Product management with an emphasis and focus on driving client value by leveraging the ongoing payments / digital evolution.
  • With a focus on international payments, assess market opportunity, competitive offerings, customer needs, ROI, and the ability for the bank to differentiate itself and be seen by the market as an innovator across all relevant lines of business. 
  • Lead a pod of developers to create international solutions including backend infrastructure.
  • Identify and define client needs and emerging trends.
  • Develop strategy and manage roadmap.
  • Working closely with partners, develop implementation and onboarding procedures
  • Create UAT test cases and train testers to perform UAT testing
  • Manage the development and maintenance of competitive analysis and market research for competitive offerings.
  • Conduct research on product enhancements and new product offerings.  Initiate product development cycle for agreed upon development initiatives. 
  • Continuously learn about technology and business changes and ensure appropriate steps are taken to meet requirements. 
  • Agile Methodologies – Using agile methodologies, apply appropriate techniques to facilitate innovation and execution. Apply and interpret metrics to measure team progress and effectiveness. 
  • Roll Out / Product Launch and Customer Readiness (Training Plans, Marketing Plans, Implementation Plans). 
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal stakeholders and vendors to gather feedback, prioritize features, and ensure alignment with business objectives. 
  • Risk / Legal: Collaborate with Risk, Legal and compliance teams to navigate regulatory and security requirements. Lead internal risk assessment.  Develop customer T&C and/or legal agreements
  • Vendor Management including vendor risk assessments  
  • Marketing: Create compelling collateral and campaigns to promote product commercialization. 
  • Product Pricing and Billing. 
  • Team Leadership: Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to foster professional growth and excellence. 
  • Customer Engagement: Engage with customers to gather feedback, understand use cases, and prioritize feature requests to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty. 
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and monitor product performance to drive continuous improvement and achieve business objectives. 
  • Continuous Improvement: Conduct market research, competitor analysis, monitor industry advancements and technological trends to identify opportunities for product improvement and differentiation. 

Required Qualifications 

  • 10+ years relevant work experience
  • Experience in international payments and/or foreign exchange is required 
  • The ideal person will have an understanding and mindset of an entrepreneur who is comfortable thinking outside the box by keeping customer experience front and center. 
  • Experience coordinating strategic initiatives with multiple stakeholders with a financial services environment.
  • A hungry and fast learner who can play multiple roles and execute on multiple initiatives in parallel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to support with developing strategy/ storylines for the Enterprise Payments group.
  • A transformation mindset and ability to operate and excel with some level of ambiguity / white space.
  • Experience working with sales and relationship management teams with the ability to build cross-functional partnerships
  • Experience in scoping opportunities to expand product offerings, compiling cost/benefit metrics and entryway into new markets
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the demonstrated ability to independently initiate research and drive “ideation” activities to uncover new concepts, services, and product opportunities in the international/correspondent banking space
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate strategic concepts, lay out a strategic course of action and gain the confidence of others through proven expertise
  • Experience working in an Agile environment as an experience owner or product owner helpful, but not required
