Citizens is seeking an experienced risk professional to join the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Team to help drive the assessment and refinement of our foundational ERM capabilities.  The Senior Director of ERM is an integral role responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Enterprise Risk Management framework and programs. This role ensures the organization's risk management framework and strategies are designed and implemented in alignment with applicable regulations, industry best practice, and strategic imperatives of the organization.  This role reports directly to the Head of Enterprise Risk Management.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead and develop a team of risk professionals responsible for development and delivery of ERM programs, policies, standards, and processes to analyze and report enterprise risks and manage risks according to the ERM Governance Framework (ERM Framework).
  • Design and direct the strategy for enhancements to the ERM Framework, Risk Appetite Framework, and related standards and processes to ensure effectiveness, drive continuous improvement, and advance maturity.
  • Aggregate and provide meaningful risk insights regarding the enterprise risk profile to ensure effective risk management and prioritization of the most significant risks.
  • Design and deliver reporting to provide senior leadership with insights, observations, and progress in the management of the enterprise risk profile and control environment.  ERM generated content includes but is not limited to ERM reporting for management and board committees, material risk identification, and exam management engagement.
  • Ensures the ERM framework and strategies are in compliance with applicable regulations, rating agency standards, and strategic objectives of the organization.
  • Advise and consult on risk topics across the enterprise as a relationship manager to functional areas or first-line risk teams to ensure alignment with the ERM Framework.
  • Maintain an enterprise-level system that fosters a collaborative, accountable, transparent, and proactive risk culture across the organization.
  • Research and analyze risk trends and industry benchmarking to drive continued improvement and evolution of ERM capabilities. 

Required Skills/Experience: 

  • 10+ years of experience in Financial Services or related industry 
  • In-depth knowledge of  regulatory requirements and proven experience with risk management frameworks.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Education, Certification, and/or Other Professional Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred)

Pay Transparency 

The salary range for this position is $225,000- $240,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
