The SVP of Wealth Business Oversight & Control is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the business management functions across the Wealth division. This role ensures the division operates within the firm’s risk appetite, adheres to relevant laws and regulations, and maintains the highest standards of ethical conduct. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of wealth management solutions, operations, and regulatory environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the wealth business in the design and implementation of a comprehensive governance framework that ensures effective decision-making, accountability, and transparency within the Wealth Management division. Partner with risk and compliance partners to reasonably ensure that wealth employs a strong control environment, including control reviews as well as committee review and approval activities.
- Identify, assess, and ensure risks associated with wealth management activities are managed. Including, investment, operational, reputational and compliance risks.
- Lead team that provides oversight including but not limited to personal financial and estate planning quality, investment oversight controls, portfolio monitoring, procedure documentation, adherence, and maintenance, and committee governance.
- Ensure wealth business lines comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies and procedures. In partnership with legal, risk and compliance partners, monitor changes (internal and regulatory in nature) and implement necessary adjustments to policies and procedures. Ensure policies and procedures support the firm’s strategic objectives while mitigating risks and ensuring compliance.
- Develop action plans to mitigate and communicate results to stakeholders. Contribute to the preparation and presentation of regular reports to senior leaders.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field required. Masters degree a plus.
- 10+ years of proven experience working with internal auditing, internal controls, or risk management roles at a financial institution at enterprise level.
- Strong understanding of internal control principles, practices, and frameworks required
- Knowledge of auditing standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices in wealth/investment management.
- Analytical and critical thinking skills to assess risks and evaluate control effectiveness.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience managing and developing people
- Attention to detail and accuracy in auditing and documentation.
- Integrity, professionalism, and ethical behavior in handling sensitive information and investigations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Hours & Work Schedule
- Hours per Week: 40
- Work Schedule: M-F
Pay Transparency
The salary range for this position is $201,000 - $250,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
