Citizens Private Bank is looking for a Senior Lending Specialist to support the underwriting needs of the Private Bank’s business loan and commercial real estate loan products. The Senior Lending Specialist will focus on processing, evaluating, and completing financial analysis on business loan requests. Additionally, they will partner closely with the Relationship Manager/Senior Business Banker as well as the Private Bank’s credit approval team to monitor and maintain overall excellent credit quality of existing loan facilities. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail and is a clear communicator who excels at managing multiple priorities while working independently or as part of a team.

Primary Responsibilities Include: 

  • Support the underwriting needs for the Private Bank’s product offering ensuring turnaround time requirements are met. Verify accuracy and completeness of loan application file including; entering application information in origination systems, completing due diligence, ordering UCC and Good Standing searches, and running appraisal and environmental report requests (for owner-occupied real-estate secured transactions).
  • Proficient use of Moody's CreditLens or similar application to complete financial analysis and spreads. Analyze cash flow reports, calculate ratios, recognize and describe trends and identify recurring and non-recurring sources of cash flow and borrowers' ability to debt service.
  • Cultivate strong and positive working relationships with partners to maintain extraordinary internal and external client service. Partners include: Business Bankers and Relationship Managers, Preferred Bankers, Loan Committee, Loan Servicing, Legal (internal and external), etc.
  • Ensure quality credit and avert any potential signs of default throughout the underwriting process and loan life cycle. Ongoing servicing of the portfolio, including loan modifications.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvements by generating suggestions and participating in problem solving activities.
  • Works closely with RM and client to identify lending needs and solutions
  • Performs analysis of client’s financials to determine loan eligibility
  • After RM handoff, serves as main POC for client and all internal/external parties to lending transactions while keeping RM in the loop
  • Manages end-to-end loan process with clients, internal/external partners from inquiry through post-closing (e.g., provides PA letters/pricing, presents loan to Credit Officer for approval, locks & submits loans, collects conditions, assists with closing coordination and any post-closing requests).
  • Monitors pipeline to ensure loan workflow is efficient and meeting closing deadlines.
  • Introduces clients to Preferred Bankers to establish deposit accounts during loan process.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience preferred in commercial credit analysis experience across a variety of industries including professional services (i.e. law firms, medical practices), non-profit organizations, as well as private equity/venture capital (capital call lending, management company credit facilities). Experience with owner-occupied commercial real estate transactions is a plus (including SBA 504).
  • BA/BS Degree required with concentration in business, finance and/or accounting preferred.
  • Strong decision-making, interpersonal and communication skills; including the ability to clearly understand complex concepts.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and self-disciplined, with the ability to work effectively with little supervision.
  • Advanced familiarity with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Moody's CreditLens is a plus.

Pay Transparency

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $160,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
