Enterprise Market Risk Manager - Treasury Oversight

The selected candidate will be responsible for second line of defense risk management oversight specifically related to interest rate risk (IRR) in the banking book.  This role will drive independent, objective and timely identification, monitoring and control of interest rate/market risk that is managed by Treasury. The objectives are review, challenge, and report on direction of risk, risk methodologies/techniques, and assumptions within an established oversight framework.  In addition, incumbent will review policies, procedures and limits prior to delivery to Asset Liability Committee.   Incumbent would report to the head of Treasury Risk Oversight within Enterprise Market Risk Management (EMRM).

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Subject matter expert will lead, maintain, and enhance Interest Rate Risk (IRR) oversight and review & challenge IRR practices in line with best practices, corporate policy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide independent, formal assessments of existing risk management strategies and processes, including an annual report to the Board on IRR.
  • Maintain relevant oversight policy, framework, and operating procedures.
  • Responsible for continuous monitoring of exposures against limits and suggest and/or develop additional metrics and/or alternative risk views as needed.
  • Comment on any exception requests to risk limits, policies and procedures.
  • Working in partnership with Model Validation, the review and challenge of sub-model appropriateness supporting asset and liability management, NII forecasting, EVE, etc.  
  • Represent EMRM when required at Executive Risk Committee, ALCO, ALCO Working Group, New Business Initiative Committee, etc.
  • Effectively participate in EMRM governance and help formulate and drive EMRM strategy.
  • Establish partnerships with the various stakeholders across the three lines of defense, including the Head of ALM, Treasurer, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7-9 years of experience in specifically asset liability management and/or treasury risk management experience at a U.S. Regulated Commercial Banking or Consumer Credit Bank.
  • Experience in liquidity risk management is desirable.
  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to develop and manage resources, directly and indirectly as well as influence
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skill
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, such as SR96-13, Eight OCC Risks (Comptroller’s Handbook), OCC 2010-1, etc.
  • Strong knowledge and market risk expertise related to financial products (debt Instruments, mortgage products, interest rate derivatives, deposit types/pricing, etc.)
  • Microsoft Office Tools, Advanced Excel, asset liability software (QRM_ALM), etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with treasury management systems and analytical tools, such as: QRM,  YieldBook, etc. 
  • Proven expertise around NII (Net Interest Income), EVE (Economic Value of Equity), FTP (Funds Transfer Pricing), deposit (non-maturity) modelling, and VAR-type modeling for market risk a plus

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, mathematics, business administration or economics and minimum of 10 years of experience in a wide range of markets; experience in debt capital markets, consumer 

Hours & Work Schedule: Hybrid 3 days in the office/2 remote

  • Hours per Week: 40 
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday
