Media Relations Support Specialist

Citizens is looking for a communications professional to help manage high-impact media relations programs and support external visibility for the bank's most senior executives.  Based at our offices in Westwood, MA, this individual will also provide critical administrative support that helps enable the overall success of the corporate Media Relations team.

Primary responsibilities include:

Media Relations:

  • Engaging with strategic media outlets to secure quality coverage for the bank’s Consumer and Commercial lines of business, as well as key Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives
  • Supporting external corporate executive communications programs
  • Writing and editing news releases, presentations, thought leadership content and other materials
  • Creating content for social media
  • Planning and research story ideas to proactively pitch and secure coverage
  • Developing strong working relationships with local, regional, and national media
  • Assisting with research

Administrative Support:

  • Managing travel logistics, scheduling, and appointments
  • Preparing briefings and presentations
  • Managing billing and relationships with outside vendors in close collaboration with Accounts Payable team
  • Assisting with event planning and management


Required Skills/Experience: 

  • 3-4 years’ experience in public relations, agency or corporate
  • Familiarity with media monitoring and measurement tools
  • Hands-on team player with ability to execute media projects
  • Highly proactive mindset; familiarity with integrated strategic communications 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and detailed project management skills are required

Education, Certification, and/or Other Professional Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications or journalism preferred

Hours and Work Schedule
Hours per Week: 40
Work Schedule: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Monday - Friday
