As the Middle Market Corporate Banking Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for credit underwriting, monitoring, and portfolio management of new and existing commercial banking relationships to ensure strong credit quality and achieve efficient internal processes to retain and expand customer relationships. Responsibilities will include prudent underwriting and effective credit and risk administration with particular emphasis on financial analysis/modeling, risk evaluation, ongoing portfolio maintenance activities, regulatory compliance, and customer support. You will manage moderately complex credits and successfully handle multiple demands and competing priorities while meeting deadlines and ensuring compliance with credit and risk policies.

Primary responsibilities include

  • Responsible for proactive Credit and Risk administration of assigned portfolio accounts.
  • Independently interact with senior management of customers and prospects in order to discuss and resolve risk related issues and develop and deliver presentations to senior management.
  • Exhibits negotiation skill at credit review and approval meetings and the development of loan structuring options, engages with syndications on multibank transactions and is skilled in the area of large exposures and complex credit situations.
  • Post closing auditing for new loans, renewals, and modifications, running financial models using a variety of formats/systems, preparing annual reviews, renewal requests, reviewing Borrowing Base Certificates and surfacing liquidity concerns, preparation of CPS and appendices, Sponsor/Guarantor analyses, completion of regular compliance checks.
  • Prepares underwriting documents for new credit transactions and gains approval, in concert with Relationship Management.
  • Negotiates loan documents, prepares, and reviews financial models for accuracy, is skilled at addressing past due situations and has extensive knowledge of credit policies and in particular.
  • Structuring, underwriting, and documenting new business, renewals, and modifications as the credit expert within the first line of defense.
  • Provides client management support for assigned portfolio, including direct client interaction on standard credit and risk follow-up issues.
  • Actively engages with Relationship managers on progress, issues, and challenges regarding a particular customer relationship or portfolio concern.
  • Handles multiple demands and competing priorities while meeting deadlines and schedules associated with maintaining portfolio and compliance with credit and risk policies. Manages moderately complex credits.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in commercial credit underwriting or portfolio management within corporate or middle market banking.
  • Strong financial analysis and modeling skills, including proficiency with cash flow, leverage, and liquidity assessments.
  • Solid understanding of credit risk principles, regulatory compliance, and loan documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for interacting with senior management and clients.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) or formal credit training program completion.
  • Experience with syndicated loans and complex credit structures.
  • Familiarity with Borrowing Base Certificates and collateral monitoring.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific risk factors and market trends.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Relationship Managers and cross-functional teams.

Hours & Work Schedule

  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Work Schedule: M-F
