The Mac Engineer position specializes in Jamf/Mac Management and is responsible for implementing and supporting the systems and technologies that comprise the end user computing environment. This position will implement and manage the technology infrastructure that supports Macs. This position also builds detailed infrastructure solutions/repeatable patterns (build-kits) for non-production and production environments, transitioning knowledge to infrastructure operations, and lead level 3 support.  You are the subject matter expert for Macs and Jamf.

The ideal candidate is an expert IT end user engineer who has proven experience designing, developing, implementing and maintaining a standard end user delivery model. You will apply this expertise across all aspects of the end user service design framework to deliver a superior colleague experience which is scalable, sustainable and supportable.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Administer Jamf Pro to deploy applications and settings to company managed devices.
  • Align Jamf and Apple technology with business processes to enhance efficiency.
  • Work closely with Application teams to test and approve new software being added to devices.
  • Collaborate with the Colleague Technology architecture, engineering and risk and service design teams to ensure desired outcomes are met in the context of the overall business and technology strategic vision.
  • Ensure managed devices comply with corporate security practices and relevant policies.
  • Assist with developing and conveying new services, offerings, and device standards.
  • Collaborate with Program Management to report project status and when necessary escalate issues and risks.
  • Closely partner with peers to ensure colleague experience and service design best practices are delivered across the plan/build/run/refresh/retire lifecycle.
  • Build installer packages, application updates and operating system updates.
  • Develop automation scripting (Bash, Python, AppleScript) for IT administrative tasks.
  • Automate end user support activities to include packaging of software.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation as well as assist with training and related materials as needed; serve as a subject matter expert for escalated technical issues or complex use cases.
  • Provide input and/or direct teammates handling critical incidents, outages and root cause analysis.
  • Evaluate changes in hardware or software environments to determine appropriate strategies for deploying, patching, and configuring devices.
  • Maintain currency in end user market trends and participate in industry workgroups as needed.
  • Participate in Beta programs for early releases of MacOS.
  • Troubleshoot complex application issues within the end user environment.
  • Provide monthly patching reporting.
  • Perform engineering technology research, procurement, deployment, and configuration for new and modified systems.
  • Ability to occasionally work or assign work during nights/weekends during critical incidents or major project implementations.



  • Solid knowledge of the following product space including MacOS, iOS, Windows, Android, PowerShell/VBScript, Jamf, Azure, Endpoint Manager.
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience supporting Macs and Jamf Pro as well as Apple device management in an enterprise environment.
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in the development and distribution of automated software deployments; the various tools used for application package creation and the delivery approaches for the Mac environment.
  • Bash/Shell/Python scripting required – can generate scripts from scratch.
  • Advanced packaging experience, including signing and notarization.
  • Create/Modify/Maintain/Delete Policies (Workstation, User, OU).
  • Experience with:
    • Jamf command line and self-service management.
    • Experience scoping and building MDM configuration profiles.
    • Experience integrating Macs in an Active Directory environment.
    • Experience with Patch Management in a Mac environment.
    • Experience deploying Macs using Apple Business Manager and DEP.
  • Effective analytical, planning, organizational, problem determination and resolution process skills
  • Ability to successfully work independently as well as collaboratively with other IT departments.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, from end users to IT peers.
  • Experience operating in a regulated environment, healthcare, banking, etc. is a plus.
  • Jamf certification preferred or an equivalent combination of education/experience may also be considered.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Strong Customer Service mentality and strong multitasking ability.
  • Proven ability to document issue resolution for service desk knowledge base.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Generate reports from the Jamf Pro management console.
