Commercial Card & Merchant Business Associate, AVP

Role Purpose

The Commercial Card & Merchant Analyst is responsible for delivering disciplined performance management, analytics, and executive‑ready insights across the Commercial Card and Merchant businesses. The role owns Monthly and Quarterly Business Review (MBR/QBR) process, develops deep performance insights across sales and revenue, and supports leadership decision‑making through fact‑based analysis and clear storytelling.


Responsibilities

  • Independently own MBR and QBR analytics and reporting for Commercial Card and Merchant; proactively identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities for senior leadership discussion
  • Analyze revenue realization, highlighting drivers of variance such as pricing, client mix, volume shifts, and timing impacts
  • Perform product and interchange variance analysis, identifying impacts from (volume) mix, network changes, fee structures, and market dynamics
  • Leverage Argus analytics and related tools to perform ad hoc trend analysis and transaction‑level deep dives
  • Respond to executive and business partner requests with structured, data‑driven analysis that informs action and decision‑making
  • Identify opportunities to enhance reporting efficiency, automate processes, and improve analytic transparency
  • Support and maintain pricing models for the Commercial Card and Sponsorship businesses, including the development and analysis of predictive pricing models to inform revenue optimization and competitive positioning strategies; assist in developing a next gen pricing tool
  • Develop and manage a centralized contract repository, overseeing the end-to-end lifecycle of commercial card agreements to ensure accuracy, governance, and operational efficiency

  • Act as a trusted analytics partner to Commercial Card and Merchant Sales, Product, Finance, and Business Management team (including client transaction reconciliation)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in analytics, finance, or business management within payments, commercial card, merchant services, or financial services
  • Strong financial modeling, market research and analytical skills
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large, complex datasets (preferred experience with database querying and data visualization tools)
  • AI fluency, including experience using generative AI tools to synthesize data, automate workflows, and critically assess outputs to support decision-making

  • Familiarity with Argus analytics or similar payment analytics platforms (preferred)
