Senior Database Engineer

The Sr. Database Engineer will be responsible for working with a migration team of database engineers on a large Oracle migration project. 

Primary responsibilities include: 

  • Lead the migration of Oracle schemas/databases from on premise to Oracle’s cloud at customer while recommending usage and best practices of new features both application and system

  • Develop scripts and processes to migrate data from one platform to another platform

  • Develop scripts and processes to validate data quality for upgrade and migration tasks

  • Fine tune operating system and database for performance and scalability

  • Administer and troubleshoot Oracle databases and including security patching, SQL tuning, capacity planning, and schema design

  • Use Oracle Enterprise Manager with tuning and diagnostics modules to proactively monitor windows OS, Database and Applications

  • Perform backup and recovery procedures using RMAN

  • Support apps teams with SQL tuning, indexing, partitioning approach to achieve read/write efficiency

  • Automate routine maintenance, monitoring and deployment procedures

  • Implement schema automation tools and process

  • Design, develop and implement database systems based on customer requirements

  • Create complex functions, scripts, stored procedures and triggers to support application development

  • Evaluate new database technology

  • Develop best practices for database design and development activities

  • Participate in database design and architecture to support application development projects

  • Monitor and maintain maximum performance of databases and applications

  • Identify poorly performing queries and tune accordingly

  • Design and implement processes and procedures to reduce and eliminate database outages and downtime

  • Troubleshoot database and application issues

  • Communicating with business stakeholders

  • Working in project teams and mentoring less-experienced team members


Required Skills/Experience:
  • Candidate must have strong working knowledge of Oracle version migrations, including data migration
  • 5+ years of Oracle Exadata DBA experience
  • 5+ years of PL/SQL and SQL experience
  • Experience using command level not just desktop tools
  • Experience with scripting (JavaScript preferred)
  • Experience with Agile/Dev Ops methodologies and tools
  • Experience with Cloud (Oracle preferred) 
  • Good understanding of Banking Industry and data
Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials:
  • Bachelor's degree required
Hours & Work Schedule

Hours per Week: 40
Work Schedule: M-F 8-5
