Description

The Bankruptcy Specialist I ensures that Citizens Bank abides by all state and federal bankruptcy rules/laws.  They ensure that Citizens is not sanctioned by any states or federal organizations for failure to maintain bankruptcy time-frames.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Answering a high level of incoming calls from customers, insurance companies, title companies and internal departments
  • Taking customer payments, sending payoff letters, letters of guarantee, account research, and other issues as they arise, all while providing a high level of customer service
  • Monitor loans in bankruptcy to ensure the debtor is in compliance with the bankruptcy plan and that Citizens adheres to investor, state, federal, and bankruptcy court guidelines/time frames
  • Prepare and file Proof of Claim (POC) upon receipt of debtor's notification of bankruptcy
  • Preparation includes confirmation of remaining balances on loan account, amount delinquent and due dates to ensure Citizens will receive all funds due through the bankruptcy trustee
  • Review bankruptcy plan and object if necessary
  • Maintain current knowledge of new laws and regulations, state, federal, and investor guidelines to minimize litigation and Citizens Bank losses
  • Handle all bankruptcy related correspondence, phone calls, emails and tasks promptly to avoid any customer complaints
  • File signed reaffirmation agreements with courts electronically
  • Make sure all necessary documents are attached to the reaffirmations to ensure Citizens legal rights to pursue future defaults

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in mortgage banking, real estate, or law
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication
  • Strong PC, word processing, spreadsheet and data entry skills
  • Math aptitude, accuracy; strong proof reading skills, detail oriented

Preferred Skills/Experience:

Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate Degree Preferred

Hours & Work Schedule

Hours per Week:  40

Work Schedule:  Monday through Friday 8-5
