Citizens Commercial Banking is growing the future leaders of our organization.  We host summer interns each year, who are interested in a career in commercial banking. The Commercial Summer Internship Program is designed to give interns a look at Citizens Bank’s culture through project-based assignments, learning curriculum, networking, volunteer opportunities and formal mentorship.  It is a 10-week exposure into one of many commercial banking business lines throughout the footprint.  We encourage students from all majors, who have an interest in exploring a career in commercial banking to apply.  Our internships will run from May 26 - August 1, 2020. Business Line Description:
Community Development (“CD”) is committed to building strong communities by working to ensure Citizens Bank offers innovative products and services aimed at fostering affordable housing, economic development and neighborhood stabilization.  This is achieved through a suite of debt and investment products which provide capital to low to moderate income communities within our footprint. We oversee a robust financial education program for the organization dedicated to helping families outside the financial mainstream develop better money management strategies.

Job Responsibilities:  
Community Development is seeking a dynamic individual, who has an interest in making a difference in the community to participate in our Summer Internship program. The Summer Intern will provide support in activities within the Community Development line of business, centered in the commercial lending and investing activities which advance the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act objectives.  The position will support key initiatives set to enhance the banks Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) performance. Summer Intern duties include the following:
  • Partner with Community Development Portfolio Management to provide client support for CD loans and investments originated by the CD Lending and Investment teams, by ensuring adherence to credit policy and requirements, financial analysis, risk evaluation and portfolio management activities.    
  • Participate in updating quarterly portfolio data and conducting capital funding calls for investment portfolios.    
  • Support Community Development Lending Relationship Managers in the management of credit portfolio, with a focus on driving new client acquisition, generating revenue and raising brand awareness among affordable housing developers and other economic revitalization projects in the community.    
  • Partner with Community Development Investments to review, prepare and analyze financial projections for community development investments, as well as assist in the initial underwrite of potential transactions, identify risk and prepare summary observations for review.    
  • Partner with Community Development Market Managers to engage key community organizations focused on affordable housing and financial education initiatives.    
  • Identify, coordinate and implement opportunities to increase CRA qualified community volunteer activities to support financial education and economic revitalization.    

Qualifications

  • Enrollment and demonstrated academic achievement in an undergraduate degree program with a graduation date of December 2020 or May 2021    
  • Minimum preferred GPA of 3.5     
  • All majors considered, Finance desirable    
  • Demonstrated leadership in a club, volunteer or sports    
  • Initiative taker who can handle multiple priorities    
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills     
  • Strong analytical skills and Detail-oriented    
  • Strong project management and organizational skills    
  • Team player who can work closely with others to complete projects under tight deadlines     
  • Software skills:  Solid MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
