How do I apply?

All qualified candidates for the Commercial Banking Associate position must submit a mandatory one page cover letter that includes your overall and major GPA with a resume before the deadline. To apply, click here and apply to the appropriate position. You will only be allowed to attach one document to your online application. Please combine your cover letter and resume into a single document before attaching it to your application. The cover letter should speak to the following:

  • Why you are interested in working for Citizens Bank
  • Why you are interested in Commercial Banking
  • What unique attributes you bring to the Company and program

Citizens Bank's Human Resources group will contact you directly regarding your candidacy for this position. No application will be reviewed without both the cover letter and resume. Generic cover letters will not be considered.

What majors do you consider for the program?

All majors are considered; coursework in Finance, Accounting and Economics is helpful but not required. The program will offer class work and training in all accounting and financial concepts needed; however, candidates must demonstrate they've learned the basic skills required to continue with the program.

What is the minimum GPA requirement for the program?

A minimum 3.5 GPA is preferred.

Where will the program take place?

The program will take place in Boston, MA.

How many associates will the bank hire into the program?

Approximately 12 individuals will be hired into the Commercial Banker Development program.

How do I find out if I've been selected? What is the interview process and when will final decisions be made?

All applications will be reviewed by our Recruiting team and a member of the team will contact you regarding your candidacy for this position. Interviews will take place in October and candidates will be notified of final selections by the end of the month.

Yes, the 12 month program is a full-time paid position. As a full-time employee you would be eligible for benefits including healthcare, 401 (k) and retirement benefits, Insurance and other services (e.g. free counseling and legal).

Are international students eligible to apply? Do you sponsor international students?

Currently, Citizens Financial Group does not sponsor work visas for those entering this program. All applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

When does the program begin and how long does it run?

The program will begin mid June and run for approximately 12 months. Following successful completion of the program graduates will be placed in a Commercial Banking business line as a Credit Analyst.

What are the typical responsibilities of a Credit Analyst?

A Commercial Banking Credit Analyst is typically responsible for supporting senior level Portfolio Managers in evaluating new credit requests, renewals, expansion of existing credit facilities and annual reviews, as well as managing compliance with basic financial statement requirements and analysis.

What are the lines of business that I could be placed in?

A Commercial Banking Credit Analyst is typically responsible for supporting senior level Portfolio Managers in evaluating new credit requests, renewals, expansion of existing credit facilities and annual reviews, as well as managing compliance with basic financial statement requirements and analysis.

Where will my job be located after I complete the program?

A Commercial Banking Credit Analyst is typically responsible for supporting senior level Portfolio Managers in evaluating new credit requests, renewals, expansion of existing credit facilities and annual reviews, as well as managing compliance with basic financial statement requirements and analysis.

Will I have a mentor?

Yes. Each program participant selects a mentor at the beginning of the program who is generally a seasoned Commercial Banking colleague, who can help with career development and growth opportunities. Additionally, upon accepting our offer into the program, each new hire is assigned an Ambassador. The Ambassador is generally a graduate from a previous CBDP class who can advise and assist with potential hurdles prior to your officially joining the program and after the program begins.

Will I receive any additional training after I complete the program?

Yes, your training does not end upon graduation from the program. Ongoing training will be provided to graduates in addition to targeted events for the graduating class.
